PJ's Coffee has done a good thing. While I've generally not found myself a big fan of the company's coffee, I have to applaud a local franchisee who has opened a new location in an historic 1859 cast iron building at 622 Canal Street. Located at the intersection of the Central Business District and the French Quarter, it does wonders for one of the most memorable facades on Canal - an ornate baroque revival facade that even in disrepair managed to catch the eye.
I'm here in the coffeeshop now - and it's suddenly packed with people - locals, tourists, police officers, you name it. While the seating area is small, there are several tables out front as well.
A great development for the city and the Downtown Development District.
