No, really. If they aren't going to enforce the fine, and insurance companies have to insure you no matter what, then there is no reason to buy health insurance. Is there any logical reason?
It may be the "responsible" thing to do because the government has told us we must purchase health care or face a penalty - but don't worry because they didn't really mean it. So if the government doesn't take it seriously, why should we? It would make more sense to bet that you won't get sick and just wait and purchase insurance if you do. They can't turn you away and the IRS just told us they won't enforce the penalty.
If this isn't a recipe for disaster, I don't know what is.
