If the reports are correct that the Senate will remove the "end of life counseling" sessions from their version of the bill, then Sarah Palin beat the Democrats on this one.
Ever since her column proclaiming the looming danger of "death panels" that's the way the debate has been framed. The President used the term multiple times in NH and it has been consistently used by supporters and opponents alike when debating the controversial section. Palin suckered the Democrats in and beat them.
If the idea is ludicrous or idiotic there should have been no problem whatsoever in dismissing the claim - as Althouse very thoroughly points out.
For a "crazy" not-even-one-term governor from Alaska, she won a major concession with 2 words.
