The Tulane Public Interest Law Foundation holds its annual fundraiser auction tomorrow evening at the law school. I attended last year, and it was entertaining. Living with one of the organizers, I was privy to the growing list of fun items up for bid - including a duck hunting trip with a professor, dinner with professors at local restaurants, and several significant gift certificates to local eateries, hotels, and events. The auction starts at 6:45 p.m., black and white attire encouraged - the event is open to the community, too.
Next Weekend - March 14, 2009
Replant Broadway Day - A great cause. It's an attempt to bring trees back to Broadway Avenue (finally, years after Katrina) is pushing to begin planting 300 trees along the Uptown thoroughfare. A friend is heading the campaign to secure the remaining funding by next weekend - in the range of several thousand dollars. So if you want to donate or help with the planting, here's the relevant information:
Tax-deductible donations can be made payable to the Hike for KaTREEna organization by mail at P.O. Box 19516, New Orleans, LA 70179 or by calling 504-301-5628. Questions about volunteering may be directed to monique@hikeforkatreena.org.
