As GM shares trade at their lowest level in 65 years, I have to pause.
My great grandfather ran his own Chevrolet garage and dealership in St. Nazianz, Wisconsin (shown above in the late 1930s).
My grandfather and his brother, shown as children in the photo, started their own Chevrolet dealership later in Kiel, which continues to operate to this day under the management of relatives.
So, I have a bit of a sentimental attachment to General Motors.
And yet, even knowing the possible domino effects out to side supplies should GM or any one of the other Big Three fall, I don't believe it is the government's role to bail out the corporations at this time.
